CORE 2026 Annual Meeting Concludes Successfully
On March 30, 2026, the Center for Ocean Research in Hong Kong and Macau (CORE) successfully held its 2026 Annual Meeting in Hong Kong. Coinciding with the center's seventh anniversary, this annual meeting was not only an internal academic review but also an important milestone marking CORE's transition into an entirely new phase of development.
The meeting brought together core researchers and members to collectively review past achievements and reach multiple key consensus points on the next phase of strategic planning. It served as a crucial opportunity to examine the collective accomplishments of the past several years. During the meeting, several core researchers presented their scientific highlights in the field of marine science, showcasing significant progress in areas such as multi-scale modeling of Chinese seas, marine ecological protection and restoration, AI oceanography, climate change, and digital twin visualization technology.
The meeting also successfully advanced the center's next-phase strategic planning. Discussions focused on how to further expand CORE's cooperation network, including establishing long-term partnerships with more international research institutions, government departments, and environmental organizations, with the goal of building a bridge-type scientific research platform between national strategic needs and international scientific frontiers.
With a clear future development strategy, the center will continue to promote the deep integration of multi-source data and immersive display technology to enhance the application effectiveness of the marine digital twin system in marine economy, ecological protection, and policy formulation.
