EARTH-HK Annual Workshop 2025

The Earth-HK Annual Workshop 2025 was successfully held on May 17-18, 2025 at The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (Guangzhou)(HKUST-GZ), with CORE as one of the co-host.

We extend our heartfelt appreciation to the dedicated hard work of all Co-Principal Investigators, Co-Investigators, research teams and all the frontline researchers involved in the Shenzhen Bay, Greater Bay Area (GBA), and Pearl River Estuary (PRE) field surveys. The Earth-HK project has received positive feedback from Monitoring & Assessment (M & A) Panel of Research Grants Council (RGC) regarding its first progress report. As noted in the M&A Panel's comments, “This is an unprecedented effort to model a system of complex systems to link climate and human activities via the land, atmosphere, biosphere and ocean through the development of a digital twin platform.”

The workshop focuses on the progress, challenges, and future direction of our Areas of Excellence (AoE) projct. In addition, we were honored to invite esteemed guests, including Prof. Yongjiu DAI from Sun Yat-sen University, Prof. Qingyun DUAN from Hohai University, Prof. Ye QI from HKUST-GZ, Prof. Fei CHEN from HKUST and Prof. Shuh-Ji KAO from Hainan University to provide their valuable insights during the workshop this year. All participants actively immersed in vibrant knowledge exchanges and discussions aimed at enhancing interdisciplinary collaboration and ensuring continued alignment with project objectives.
