About CORE

Established on 1 September 2019, Center for Ocean Research in Hong Kong and Macau (CORE) is an international research center for multi-sphere interdisciplinary new regional ocean research in Hong Kong – a bilateral collaboration among Laoshan Laboratory and the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST).

 

CORE is expected to contribute to the development of marine environment and marine resources, ocean sustainability, forecasting, climate change, and blue economy in Guandong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area(GBA) and Asia-Pacific Region.

  1. Build on the academic strength of Hong Kong-Macau academic community and on the platform of the National Lab to conduct impact research in broad ocean science.

  2. Consolidate ocean science research in Hong Kong-Macau and strengthen our overall research capability and impact.

  3. Build a leading ocean research institute and provide science-based strategy for marine sustainable in Guandong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area.
